England

We travelled to England from 12/8/13 to 23/9/13 to surprise my folks on their 50th wedding anniversary. Nobody knew we were coming. We got there a couple of days early and hid in Manchester. That gave us time to get over our jetlag, sort out phones etc, and find our feet.

On the day of the anniversary, we picked up our hire car and drove to my folks place. We got there early morning and managed to sneak up to the front doorwithout being busted. Surprise complete.

A couple of days later was the official do, at Dad's golf club.

We visited a few places while we were over, and in no particular order, here are some pics of where we went.

We also went to a few historical sites, such as Dunham Massey where my Dad volunteers (an old stately home), and Styall Mill, both near Manchester. The Mill once produced fabrics in the industrial revolution, and even today, Aussies refer to linen and materials in general as manchester

We also caught up with a few of my mates, but we didn't really take many photos while we were doing so. So me old mate Al doesn't get a pic, despite spending most saturdays with him at the pub fixing up the ills of the world.

We saw me old mate Ric and his family down in Cheltenham, but again, pics are few and far between. Heres a couple. Bald heads are rare in Cheltenham, so you have to touch them whenever they are available

We also saw me old mate Malc and family, not far from Rics. Again, next to no photos of the grown ups, but thankfully some of the important people

While we were away, my Uncle and Rebecca came over from Australia to visit various people, and we all went out for a few meals. This last photo is possibly the worst photo taken of a group of people enjoying what was a very nice feed

We did other things and saw other people. There aren't many photos to prove it, but we did.  And then we came home. And after a bit of faffing about we headed off to Tasmania
